Far Eastern Transport Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe into sinking of self-propelled scow “Anatoly Krashennikov” in the Sea of Okhotsk under Article 263, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violation of the rules for traffic safety and operation of water transportation system entailing by negligence the death of two or more persons).
According to the investigation, today at 5:40 AM of the Moscow time, in the city of Okhotsk near Lopatka cape of Kambalny Gulf, a self-propelled scow “Anatoliy Krashennikov” (Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky port of registry) sank with 13 crew members on board, according to preliminary data. Ten people were taken aboard Dalmos tender during a rescue operation; the remaining three are currently missing. The ship sank completely.
The investigation monitors the process of the rescue operation. The investigation process is to determine reasons of the accident and a person responsible for the crime.
