Today, the Ryazan Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia has initiated the referral of a probe into alleged infliction of injuries to minor citizen of Ryazan Region, Aleksey D., from Internal Affairs agencies, due to high social media coverage.

It was established that, on October 24, 2018, the Ryazan Oktyabrsky District Department of the Ministry for Internal Affairs had received a report stating that Aleksey D. born 2002, a student of the Ryazan Technical College, had been brought to the Regional Children Hospital from his campus with a closed traumatic brain injury.

The medical documentation stated that, upon coming home from his boxing training, the young man had complained about a headache, owing to which he had been admitted by an ambulance. On the route, the boy had gone into a coma in the ambulance cart. The healthcare institution reported that the young man woke up on November 8. At the moment, his condition has been stabilised to grave. He receives full medical assistance and should not be transported.

During the probe, investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia will examine all possible scenarios of the accident and assess all the circumstances, including his training conditions, actions (inaction) of people in charge of the training and the campus, as well as other individuals. Other possible participants of the accident is being established; the investigators will check the information in social media about the fact that the minor had suffered an offence committed by other students, one of whom had been reportedly hospitalised as well with a face injury. Moreover, the minor’s social circle and psychological environment is being established; leisure time development is being examined.

A decision will be made under the Criminal Procedural Code of Russia with reference to all the established facts.

In addition, the Investigative Committee of Russia is conducting a probe into the fact that the information on the accident featuring the minor failed to be delivered to the Committee by the Internal Affairs agencies. The probe will result in a procedural decision.
