Chairman of Investigative Committee of Russia holds working meeting with Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Finland


Today, the Investigative Committee of Russia hosted a working meeting of Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin and Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Finland Kai Mykkänen.

Officers of the Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Finland, Ambassador of the Republic of Finland in the Russian Federation Mikko Hautala, and National Police Commissioner of the Republic of Finland Seppo Kolehmainen also participated in the meeting.

The parties discussed the current state of interaction between the two agencies including that under the Cooperation Agreement between the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Finland dated September 8, 2011.

The Finnish representatives noted the high level of cooperation with investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia showing certain positive results, including utmost contribution in investigation of probes by units of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

The parties agreed upon the need to deepen the level of cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism; illegal migration; economic violations; and also to exchange forensic experience, including the use of new forensic equipment and examinations performance.

Taking into account the specific nature of new challenges and threats and the transnational nature of a significant number of offences, Alexander Bastrykin and Kai Mykkänen agreed to develop and sign a new cooperation agreement in the nearest future that will enable the parties to reach a substantially higher level of interaction in investigation of crimes of the most dangerous categories and will form the basis for a close collaboration in the field of science and education.
