In Sverdlovsk Region, probe launched into murder attempt against three people, including minor

In the morning of November 14, 2018, a Honda driver collided with citizens while driving on a sidewalk on Furmanova Street in Yekaterinburg. A man, a woman and her 2-year-old child in a stroller suffered injuries of varying severity. A required medical assistance is being provided to the victims.

The Sverdlovsk Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened an investigation into an offence under Part 3 of Article 30; Paragraph A of Part 2 of Article 105 (attempt of murder of two or more persons) of the Criminal Code of Russia in order to determine all the circumstances.

According to the investigation, the actions of the driver born in 1968 were intentional for they were by no means attributed to the road situation, or technical failure, or lack of driving qualification of the man who has significant driver experience.

During the investigation, a complex of forensic and technical examinations is to be arranged; witnesses and other persons are to be questioned; additional investigative activities are to be conducted.

With reference to severity to the offence suspected, the Investigative Committee officer will ask the court to put the suspect into custody. The investigation is performed by the Major Crimes Investigation Department.
