In Sverdlovsk Region, court rules to keep in custody local citizen accused of attempted murder of three persons including minor

The Sverdlovsk Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has charged a local citizen accused of an offense under Part 3 of Article 30 and Paragraph A of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia (attempted murder of two or more persons).

According to the materials of the probe, in the morning of November 14, 2018, the Honda driver had collided with citizens while driving on a sidewalk on Furmanova Street in Yekaterinburg. A man, a woman and her 2-year-old child in a stroller had suffered injuries of varying severity. A required medical assistance is being provided to the victims.

According to the investigation, the actions of the driver had been intentional for they had by no means been attributed to the road situation, or technical failure, or lack of driving qualification of the man who has significant driver experience.

Taking into account the materials of the probe, investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia filed a motion to the court to keep the detainee in custody. Having studied the available case files, the courted granted the motion and ruled to keep the accused in custody for two months.

At the moment, a complex of measures aimed to gather and prove the evidence is being carried out. First-hand witnesses and other persons have been interviewed; forensic and motor mechanic examinations are to be performed to establish all circumstances of the accident; other necessary investigative activities are ongoing. The investigators are also establishing causes and conditions that led to committing of this crime to take complex measures for avoiding such circumstances in future.

The criminal investigation is ongoing.
