Chairman of Investigative Committee of Russia takes under his control probe into infliction of grave injuries to a schoolgirl in Saint Petersburg

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia took under his control the probe into infliction of grave injuries to a schoolgirl in Saint Petersburg. The Saint Petersburg Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched the probe into an offense under Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Russia (intentional infliction of a grave injury).

According to the investigation, on November 15, 2018, the clothes of the 14-year-old girl caught fire in undefined circumstances in an apartment of one of the houses located on the Prospect Nauki Street. The girl received burns on 30% of her body and was delivered to a hospital where she is provided with qualified medical assistance.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the investigators to study all circumstances and causes of the accident. The investigators are identifying all persons that were present in the apartment at the moment of the accident. Three of them have already been delivered to the investigator to be questioned during the investigation. The investigators will check all possible versions of the accident and give a legal assessment to actions of all of the participants.
