In Saint Petersburg, teenager arrested at suspicion on intentional infliction of grave injuries to schoolgirl

The Saint Petersburg Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia continues the investigation into infliction of grave injuries to the schoolgirl, an offence under Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Russia.

Following investigative and search activities, a 15-year-old 8-grade student was arrested at suspicion on committing of the crime.

According to the investigation, on November 15, 2018, the teenager had poured an alcohol-containing liquid over his 14-year-old peer and set her on fire under unidentified reasons, while in an apartment of a house on Prospekt Nauki Street. His action had resulted in the girl's admission to a hospital with burns covering 30% of her body, where she now receives all the required medical assistance.

It is being decided upon the suspect's deterrence and charges.

During the investigation, the investigators are to examine causes and conditions contributed to the commission of the offence.

The investigation is specially controlled by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
