In Moscow Region, director of rehabilitation centre where actor Dmitry Maryanov was treated accused of provision of services failing to meet safety standards and entailed death by negligence

An investigator of the Directorate I on Major Crimes Investigation of the Moscow Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia pressed charges against the director of Phoenix Rehabilitation Centre for rendering of services which do not meet standards for safety - namely, for an illegal provision of medical services with neither legal basis nor license - which entailed by negligence the death of a person (Paragraph C of Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia).

According to the investigation, on October 6-15, 2017, the actor was being attended to in the rehabilitation centre where he was being administered intramuscular injections of medical supplies. However, the staff of the centre did not check him for any contraindications to the certain medicinal agents, while those medical supplies strictly required a doctor’s prescription.

Moreover, despite numerous complaints of Maryanov about his poor physical condition and his indications for emergency admittance, the staff of the centre was not calling for an ambulance for a long time, thus depriving the actor from timely and qualified medical assistance.

At the moment, a number of investigative activities is arranged to establish all circumstances of the accident. The criminal investigation into infliction of death by negligence (Part 2 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Russia) is ongoing.
