Probe into participant of school attack in Buryatia referred to court

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation concluded the criminal investigation into one of the students of the Ulan-Ude Secondary School No. 5.

According to the investigation, in the morning of January 19, 2018, the school student with the complicity of two minor classmates - 9th-grade students of the school No. 5 - attacked a teacher and students of the school and set a fire in a classroom using incendiary bottles. Their intent for murder was not completed due to circumstances beyond their control.

His actions were recognised as offences under Part 3 of Article 30; Paragraphs A, C, E, F, I of Part 2 of Article 105; Part 2 of Article 167; Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Russia (attempted murder of two or more persons; wilful destruction or damage of property; threat of killing). The investigation gathered enough evidence, therefore, the probe into the minor perpetrator was sent to the court.

The two his accomplices, their legal representatives and advocates are now studying the case files. Following the studying, the criminal case will be referred to the Prosecutor’s Office to conclude an indictment.
