In Altai Territory, charges pressed against former kindergarten teacher of day-care group of private kindergarten “Happy Baby” in Barnaul

During the investigation into the teaching staff of private preschool institution “Centre of Child Development - Kindergarten “Happy Baby” committing an offence under Paragraph B of part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia (rendering of services which do not meet standards of safety to lives or health of consumers intended for children under six years of age), the Altai Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia pressed charges against a former kindergarten teacher of a day-care group currently working for the Altai Regional Ministry of Education and Science.

According to the investigation, from August 2017 to April 2018, the defendant and two other teachers, in discharging their responsibilities of raising and caring for infants attending the private children’s institution, inflicted physical and moral harm on them through regular beating and other adverse actions. These facts were well-established by the head of the kindergarten; however, she did not take any measures to eliminate the violations.

Today the court ruled to subject the former teacher to house detention. Moreover, the investigation is checking involvement of the defendant in an offence under Paragraph D of Part 2 of Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Russia (torture committed against obvious juvenile). Previously the investigation pressed charges against the former head of the institution and two other teachers under the same Article. They were subjected to house detention.

The criminal investigation is ongoing under supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
