The Main Investigations Directorate over North Caucasian Federal District of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation completed the investigation into an active member of Aslan Gagiev criminal community, Artur Dzhioev. He is accused of committing offences under Part 1 of Article 210 (organisation of a criminal community or participation in it); Paragraphs A, F, G, H of Part 2 of Article 105 (murder); Part 3 of Article 30; Paragraphs A, G, H of Article 105 (attempted murder); Part 3 of Article 127 (illegal deprivation of liberty); Part 3 of Article 222 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, or bearing of firearms) of the Criminal Code of Russia.

Artur Dzhioev, on the international wanted list since February 13, 2014, had been arrested on April 27, 2015, in Thessaloniki, Greece. On February 21, 2018, after a long extradition process, a relevant Greek authority had extradited Dzhioev to the Russian Federation where he had been detained.

According to the investigation, in 2004, Dzhioev had joined a criminal community created by Aslan Gagiev in Moscow, Moscow Region and the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. His role had been to coordinate activities of the criminal community through receiving instructions from Aslan Gagiev on another murder and to refer them by means of conspiracy communication links to the chiefs of gangs incorporated into the community. Apart from that, Dzhioev had been responsible for establishing of sustainable linkages with various independent organised groups, developing of plans, and creating of conditions for these groups to commit crimes.
Dzhioev had participated in commission of the following especially grave offences by members of the criminal community: murder of Victor Tuaev in Beslan in 2006; murder of Deputy Director of Financial Leasing Company JSC Andrey Burlakov in Moscow in 2011 and attempted murder of former Vice Chairman of the board of Mira-Bank Anna Etkina; murder of investigator of the Northern Investigative Department of the Moscow Interregional Transport Investigations Directorate Alexander Leonov in Moscow in 2012; murder of Marat Pliev after five days of illegal deprivation of liberty in Istra District of Moscow Region in 2013; murder of Deputy Prosecutor for Promyshlenny District of Vladikavkaz in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania in 2013.

Apart from that, Dzhioev had participated in illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, and bearing of firearms and explosives.

The investigation gathered enough evidence, therefore, the criminal case with the approved indictment was sent to the Sovetsky District Court of Vladikavkaz, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, to be tried on the merits.
