Probe launched into Deputy Governor of Pskov Region

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal inquiry into Alexander Kuznetsov, the Deputy Governor of Pskov Region, upon his receiving of a bribe on an especially large scale (Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of Russia).

According to the investigation, in 2013, a director of a construction enterprise had given Kuznetsov a bribe in the form of a residential house in Pskov, having undervalued it for at least 1.5 million roubles, for Kuznetsov’s ensuring that the enterprise would win a tender for a state contract for construction of a medical facility in Pskov Region.

Kuznetsov has been arrested; the restriction measure is being decided upon. The suspect’s places of residence and work are being searched. During a search in Kuznetsov’s office, items and documents relevant for the inquiry have been seized. Among them, there is an ID card issued on his name by Estonia authorities, which proved to be an ID granting residence in the Republic of Estonia.
