In Khabarovsk, man found guilty of murdering of athlete

The evidence gathered by the Khabarovsk Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was found by the court sufficient to sentence a man who was found guilty of committing an offence under Paragraph I of Part 2 of Article 105 (murder committed maliciously).

The investigation and the court established that, in the early morning on August 20, 2017 the man was provoking a conflict with the victim and offending him with obscene words on a street in the centre of Khabarovsk. That resulted in a fight, which left the victim dead. It is important to note that the deceased was a professional athlete, the World and Europe power-lifting champion. The convict left the scene immediately after the crime.

The investigation was referred to officers of the Major Crimes Investigation Department. The enforced investigative group also comprised most experienced forensics experts of the regional directorate, officers of the Khabarovsk Regional Directorates of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Federal Security Service of Russia. The location of the perpetrator was established and he was arrested due to the efficient work of the law enforcement agencies.

The court sentenced the man to 18 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony.
