Alexander Bastrykin visits Skolkovsky Centre for Family Upbringing Assistance
Today, despite his busy schedule, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin visited Skolkovsky Centre for Family Upbringing Assistance. Orphans and children left without parental care, including those with disabilities, live and study here. The centre’s employees do their utmost to find caring and loving families for all the residents. Thanks to the joint efforts, some of the children return to their birth families, some are adopted or taken to foster families. At the moment, there are 34 residents in the institution, and now they are all preparing for their favourite holiday – the New Year.
Protection of the rights and legitimate interests of children, including those from among orphans, is one of the priorities for the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. As Alexander Bastrykin noted, children need special attention and care from adults, while orphans and children with disabilities are the most vulnerable category of country’s young citizens.
Alexander Bastrykin talked to residents and employees of the Centre. The institution’s management told about their working experience with such children, about rehabilitation process of children with disabilities. The Centre also has counselling sessions for parents of children with disabilities who need support and psychological assistance; for holidays, all residents go to camps and recreational facilities; many clubs have been organized: drawing, TV studio, design. In addition, the children accompanied by a facilitator come to elderly citizens who need assistance, to help them put things in order: wash the floors and windows, throw out the garbage, beat the rugs.
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia also asked the Centre’s management about any problems they have. According to the teachers, the most important task is to fully integrate such children into the society, so that they could learn to communicate with people, were able to get education, found a good job. For these purposes, there are educational tours, creative evenings and meetings arranged for the children. In this regard, the Investigative Committee of Russia on its own initiative join the Centre’s preparations for the New Year’s matinee, which will take place on December 27. Performers will be invited, and Christmas presents bought.
In his turn, Alexander Bastrykin promised that the Investigative Committee of Russia would help the Centre on a regular basis, and he would visit the children whenever possible.
