Alexander Bastrykin held a reception for orphaned and left without parental care cadets of Cadet Corpses and specialized classes including children of the Investigative Committee officers whose parents were killed in the line of duty.
The event was attended by students of Alexander Nevsky Cadet Corps, Saint Petersburg Cadet Corps of the Investigative Committee of Russia, and specialized classes of educational institutions of Balashiha, Khimki, Murmansk, Volgograd, Irkutsk and Novosibirsk. The event was also attended by the Head of Educational Outreach Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Hero of Russia Sergey Petrov; Chairman of the Presidium of the National Association of Investigation Veterans Organizations and the Union of Investigation Veterans Vladimir Dontsov; Director of the Alexander Nevsky Cadet Corps, Soviet Union Hero Igor Zaporozhan; Director General of Fund for Veterans "Honor and Glory" Alexander Fedotov.
In his welcoming speech Alexander Bastrykin noted that New Year meetings with young cadets are becoming a good tradition since they provide the students with an opportunity to become familiar with historical and cultural centers of our Motherland.
During the reception students shared their educational achievements and plans for the future. The cadets also shared their impressions from the trip to Kursk they had had the day before. This summer the city of Military Glory hosted celebration of 75th anniversary of the Battle of Kursk. During the trip the students found out a lot about the feat of our people and particularly about a legendary participant of the battle - the investigative veteran and acting State Counsel for Justice Alexander Suharev. The students presented slide shows and reports on heroic deeds of Kursk combatants.
The young cadets recited several poems full of patriotism and respect towards heroism of the ancestors including poems of their own composition.
Alexander Bastrykin thanked the cadets for the big work they have done and for their educational achievements and approved their plans for the next year. "Stay devoted to the moral and cultural values you are taught and it will help you in future training and serving your duty" - the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia exhorted the cadets and assured them that the Investigative Committee will continue doing its utmost to prepare them for future solving of the most responsible tasks.
Vladimir Dontsov in his congratulatory speech recalled events that took place nine years earlier when, after a joint visit to a children's home, Alexander Bastrykin suggested to take part in creation of cadet corpses, classes and academies of the Investigative Committee: "It's a great pleasure for me today to see how these plans are being fulfilled, and I feel proud that veterans have also made some contribution to this success". According to Vladimir Dontsov, it is necessary not only to build new investigation, but a new investigator as well, the one who will be compassionate towards other people’s troubles and won't be indifferent to another's pain. The developing practice of visits of the Investigative Committee officers to children's homes including over 200 children's homes under patronage of the Investigative Committee also serves this purpose.
The participants of the meeting talked separately about the feats of the young heros - Ivan Krapivin, Evgeniy Tabakov, Danil Sadykov, Andrey Kasimov, and paid tribute to them by a minute of silence. The student promised the Head of the Committee that they will always remember the decent and courageous deeds of these children and use them as examples for their younger mates.
In conclusion the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia discussed with the children present at the event the questions they had, awarded them with memorable gifts and wished them a happy New Year and success in the upcoming year.
