The probe into death of people in a Perm mine refered to the Central Office upon instruction of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia


In the morning of December 22 a smoke was reported in the building mine shaft in Solikamsk Region of Perm Territory. At that moment 9 staff members of a contractor organization were in the mine and died as a result of fire. Perm Regional Investigations Directorate launched a probe into Part 3 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violation of safety rules during mining, building and other activities entailing the death of two or more persons).

According to investigation, construction activities in the mine have been performed by a contractor organization.

At the moment investigators are examining the scene, interrogating witnesses and people responsible for safety rules and seizing documents. Data obtained during examination of the scene will be compared with documents that regulate safety rules in this area of work. Investigators are carrying out other investigative activities in order to determine all circumstances of the accident.

The following persons have been detained as suspects: Andrey Kuprishkin, an overman of Federal Unitary Enterprise US-30 SMU-680; Maxim Kanishchev, the chief of site 5 of the mine building complex SKRU-3 of Federal Unitary Enterprise US-30 SMU-680; Igor Chukaev, an overman of Federal Unitary Enterprise US-30 SMU-680; Andrey Artukhin, a chief of object of the mine building complex SKRU-3 of Federal Unitary Enterprise US-30 SMU-680.

Alexander Bastrykin instructed to refer the probe into the death of 9 workers to the Central Office for the comprehensive, thorough and the most complete investigation. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee will personally supervise the process of investigation.
