Court rules upon probe into member of attack on Buryat school

The evidence gathered by the Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was found sufficient by the court to rule for application of compulsory medical measures to one of the students of the school No. 5 in Ulan-Ude.

The investigation and the court established that on January 19, 2018, the school student with the complicity of two minor classmates - 9th-grade students of the school No. 5 - attacked a teacher and students of the school and set a fire in a classroom using incendiary bottles. Their intent for murder was not completed due to circumstances beyond their control.

His actions were recognised as offences under Part 3 of Article 30; Paragraphs A, C, E, F, I of Part 2 of Article 105; Part 2 of Article 167; Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Russia (attempted murder of two or more persons; wilful destruction or damage of property; threat of killing).

The two his accomplices, their legal representatives and advocates are now studying the case files. Following the studying, the criminal case will be referred to the Prosecutor’s Office to conclude an indictment.
