In Chelyabinsk Region, probe launched into collapse of residential building entrance

In the morning of December 31, 2018, several apartments of a residential building on Karla Marxa Street in Magnitogorsk collapsed.

The Chelyabinsk Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal inquiry into the accident under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Russia (murder by negligence of two or more persons).

At the moment, emergency specialists continue to shift the wreckage. Investigators and forensics specialists of the Chelyabinsk Regional Investigations Directorate inspect the scene, question possible witnesses and eyewitnesses. The investigation considers all scenarios of the accidents. Household gas explosion is a priority version currently. The number of victims is being calculated.

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed the Main Investigations Directorate to take the case and sent forensics specialists of the Central Office to the scene.
