Chairman of Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin flies to Magnitogorsk where people died in collapse of residential building entrance

In the morning of December 31, 2018, several apartments of a residential building on Karla Marxa Street in Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk Region, collapsed.

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia continues the investigation opened under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Russia (infliction of death by negligence to two or more persons).

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia flew to Magnitogorsk to coordinate the work of an investigative emergency team of the Committee and to set the cooperation with all services working at the scene.

Alexander Bastrykin will personally hear a report on the investigation progress and give a range of specific instructions to the team.

At the moment, the investigators continue to inspect the scene, question possible witnesses, and seize documents relevant for the investigation.
