In Arkhangelsk Region founder and director of private children’s health camp suspected of providing services not meeting safety standards and concealing information about illness of children

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for Arkhangelsk Region and Nenets Autonomous Area have opened a criminal case against founder and director of a health camp located in Pinega District, Arkhangelsk Region over crimes under paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (providing services not meeting safety standards for life and health of consumers committed by a group of people in a previous concert) and part 1 of article 237 (concealing information about events and facts dangerous for people’s health).

According to investigators, in summer 2014 the suspects while providing holidays for the children in a difficult life situation in an out-of-town health camp failed to provide proper hygiene conditions, children could not have bath every day, there was no toilet paper or soap in bathrooms, which caused children to have contagious parasitic disease – scab. Due to the fact that ill children were not isolated from the healthy ones or the staff and were treated outside hospital, many children and staff got the disease. The suspects violated requirements and did not inform territorial bodies in charge of federal state sanitary and epidemiological surveillance that there was a mass contagious disease.

At present necessary investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the incident. The investigators are going to find reasons and conditions that contributed to the crime.
