Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin has had a working meeting with Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia Hayk Grigoryan in St. Petersburg.

During the meeting held in Smolny, the heads of the two agencies discussed the results of interagency cooperation and further plans for the development and strengthening of cooperation between the Investigative Committees of Armenia and Russia. In addition, the program of cooperation was signed between the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia in science and education for 2020-2022.

Alexander Bastrykin noted, “The implementation of the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Investigative Committees of Armenia and Russia contributes to the sustainable progressive development of our bilateral relations. The work is being pursued not only in the areas of crime prevention and detection but also in the creation of conditions for the professional guidance of young people and the upbringing of respectable successors with high moral culture and legal consciousness.”

Speaking about the professional orientation of the younger generation, the head of the Russian agency shared with his colleagues from Armenia the results of the Young Investigator program implemented in children’s centers, which was attended by children of officers from the Republic of Belarus. He also informed about the organization of the next-year discipline-related summer shifts in the Russian international children’s centers for the children of the colleagues from the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia. The matter is being elaborated following the interagency board held in Krasnoyarsk.

The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee also stated that “the Cooperation Program of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in forensics support of preliminary investigation signed earlier in Krasnoyarsk has become the basis for the practical implementation of the achievements of modern science and technology and, most importantly, for the well-coordinated work of the specialists of our agencies: the exchange of experience on certain investigative activities, application of advanced methods of investigation, use of innovative forensics equipment, and other practical aspects of forensics.”

Taking into account this positive experience, Alexander Bastrykin spoke about the expediency of signing the Cooperation Program in the scientific and educational sphere between the agencies, which would be “a natural result, given the mutual interest of our scientific communities, the need for professional development, exchange of experience, and best practices in crime investigation and research.”

With reference to the active development of interaction between the agencies, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia supported the initiative of his Belarusian colleagues, proposing to hold joint meetings of the boards of Investigative Committees of Armenia, Belarus, and Russia two times per year.

In his turn, Hayk Grigoryan positively assessed the expert format of the working meeting, noting that the established interaction allows solving practical issues effectively and efficiently.

The parties also discussed the topics of the upcoming joint meeting of the Boards in the context of current relevant issues, within the framework of which it is also planned to hear reports on the work done for the execution of orders given at the event in Krasnoyarsk. At that, Alexander Bastrykin expressed his readiness to support Hayk Grigoryan’s initiative to hold another interagency event in Armenia.
