In Moscow Region, man accused of murdering private security company employees and a series of robberies against CIT guards, arrested

The investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Moscow Region have charged the 48-years-old man with offences under Paragraph H of Part 2 of Article 105 (murder attended by robbery) and Paragraph C of Part 4 of Article 162 (robbery committed with the infliction of major damage to the victim’s health) of the Criminal Code of Russia, upon his attack on cash-in-transit guards in Khimki. The accused was subjected to preventive detention.

The investigation established that, on January 20, 2017, following the transit of cash of one of the retail outlets in Liga shopping center in Khimki, a CIT guard of Inkakhran Service LLC and a private security company employee had been robbed by an unidentified person who had made several rifle shots at them. The robbery had resulted in the 38-year-old private security company employee’s death on the scene. At the same time, the CIT guard had managed to hide and secure the cash. The attacker had fled the scene.

Upon the instruction of Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin, experienced forensics specialists from the Central Office of the Committee were sent to examine the scene.

During the investigation, officers of the Investigative Committee of Russia established that the arrested man had been involved in a similar offence committed on November 12, 2014. Then, at the entrance to Ashan store in Andreyevka settlement of Solnechnogorsky District, an unidentified person had made at least two shots at an employee of FORT-M private security company who had been securing the transit of cash. As a result of his gunshot wounds, the man had died in an ambulance. At least 8 million rubles had been stolen. Upon that, the Moscow Regional Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe into the offences under Paragraph H of Part 2 of Article 105 (murder committed out of mercenary motives), Paragraph B of Part 4 of Article 162 (robbery), and Part 1 of Article 222 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, or bearing of firearms) of the Criminal Code of Russia.

The person involved in the offences was not detained in hot pursuit. However, the work of investigators, forensic specialists, and operational staff continued. More than 150 persons were questioned in the criminal cases and several dozen examinations were carried out, including fingerprinting and complex physical and chemical examinations of cartridges seized during the examination of the scene. In the course of the investigation and search activities, the Investigative Committee of Russia, in close cooperation with the officers of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow Region, detained the suspect during another attack on a bank branch in Moscow. The man gave a detailed and substantial statement. Searches were carried out at the accused’s home and in his country house, during which the rifle was confiscated, as well as ammunition, including cartridges identical to those seized from the scenes in Khimki and Solnechnogorsk.

In addition, the man is accused of three other robberies committed in 2017, 2018, and 2019 against bank employees in Moscow and Moscow Region. Then, the attacker had managed to steal money in the total amount of more than 4,8 million rubles, more than 40,000 U.S. dollars, and more than 37,000 euros. These criminal cases are being investigated by the police, and the materials on them have already been requested by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Moscow Region. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
