Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructs to inspect the high-impact situation around criminal prosecution of 16-year-old teenager in Tomsk Region
The Tomsk Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia has initiated a referral from the Ministry of Internal Affairs bodies of the probe materials into a 16-year-old boy who damaged a car that had run into his dog.
On June 5, 2019, the minor, being upset with the death of his dog, had hit the body of the car, which had run into the animal, several times. The car owner filed for significant damage to his property to the law enforcement bodies, taking no account of the moral state of the teenager and the circumstances that had forced him to act that way. The police launched a probe into the boy under Part 1 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of Russia (willful damage of other people’s property).
Alexander Bastrykin has instructed his subordinates to duly investigate the situation, establish all circumstances of the accident, and check the arguments of the car owner about the significance of the damage assessed in 14,000 rubles. The investigation will be supervised by the Central Office of the Investigative Committee.
