In Moscow, woman found guilty of financing terrorist activities

The evidence collected by the Moscow Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia was found by the court to be sufficient to convict Leyla Babayeva of committing offence under Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia (financing terrorist activities).

The investigation and the court established that, from June 2017 to May 2018, Babayeva, using her bank card, had collected money and provided financial assistance to the international terrorist organization ISIS banned in the Russian Federation.

As part of the investigation, the investigators carried out a significant amount of investigative activities and expert examinations that proved the guilt of the woman.

The Moscow District Military Court has sentenced Babayeva to 8 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony.
