Repeatedly convicted resident of Sverdlovsk Region found guilty of committing several especially grave offences including rape and murder of little girl

The evidence gathered by the Sverdlovsk Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia was found by the court to be sufficient to sentence a 45-year-old previously repeatedly convicted man residing in Yekaterinburg before detention. He was found guilty of committing two murders, including one of a little girl (Paragraph H of Article 105 and Paragraphs A, C, J of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia), two attempted murders (Part 3 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia), rape of a minor (Paragraph B of Part 4 of Article 131of the Criminal Code of Russia) and five robberies (Parts 2 and 4 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of Russia).

The investigation and the court established that the crimes had been committed from August to September 2018 in Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, and Kamensk-Uralsky. Four women, one man, and a girl born in 2009 had suffered from the man's actions. Most victims had not been previously acquainted with the perpetrator; the main motive for committing offences had been the ulterior one (stealing money). Two victims--a Yekaterinburg citizen previously acquainted with the perpetrator and the little girl from Kamensk-Uralsky--had died from their injuries. Two other victims--a woman from Chelyabinsk and a man from Kamensk-Uralsky--had managed to survive due to required medical care. In a number of cases, the perpetrator had used a hammer and a pipe wrench as a weapon to inflict bodily injuries. After that, the convict had stolen valuable property and money from them.

As established by the investigation, the circumstance that contributed to committing offences against the 36-year-old man and the 9-year-old girl in Kamensk-Uralsky had been the fact that the victim (the 36-year-old man) had invited the perpetrator, whom he had previously met for the first time near a store, to his house. The convict had used the hospitality of the unsuspecting man and started drinking alcohol with him and then hit him several times on the head with a pipe wrench. Believing that the victim (being unconscious at that moment) had passed away, the perpetrator had decided to rape the 9-year-old daughter of the man's partner and to kill her afterward to hide the traces of the committed violence. According to a forensic psychiatric examination, the convict is sane and recognized the actual nature of actions committed by him.

Upon the investigation, the investigator of the Investigative Committee of Russia introduced recommendations to the law enforcement bodies of cities where the perpetrator committed the offences incriminated to him to take extensive measures of control over previously convicted persons released from places of deprivation of freedom in order to prevent them from offending again.

The court ruled to sentence the man to life imprisonment in a penal colony of special regime.
