Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia holds briefing in St. Petersburg

As part of his working visit to Saint Petersburg, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin has held a briefing session with heads of investigative bodies of Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region and with the management of the Saint Petersburg Academy of the Investigative Committee of Russia and Saint Petersburg Cadet Corps of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

During the briefing, the Head of the Investigative Committee listened to reports on the progress of probes into offences against person processed by the Saint Petersburg Main Investigations Directorate and Leningrad Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia. He also listened to a report on a probe into safety rules violation in operation of ship-repairing floating dock investigated by the North-West Transport Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

Moreover, Alexander Bastrykin discussed the previously given instructions regarding educational and upbringing process, training and procurement, with the management of the educational institutions of the Committee. The participants mentioned matters of providing orphan children and children left without parental care with all the required social safety nets. This year, 55 orphan children and children left without parental care applied for bachelor and master degree programs in the Saint Petersburg Academy and 35 in the Cadet Corps of the Committee. Additionally, the participants discussed collaboration with children’s homes under their patronage.

Following the session, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee gave his subordinates a range of specific assignments relating to further investigation of probes and to the training of students of the Committee’s educational institutions.
