The Investigative Committee of Russia is launching special project “On the Trail” dedicated to the work of the forensics service celebrating its 65th anniversary this year.

The job of a forensic investigator is associated with studying the patterns of originating criminal traces. It is widely known that any crime leaves a trace. The engagement of forensic investigators along with advanced technology to the crime scene examination provides for finding and documenting the smallest detail, sometimes not even recognized by a human eye. Further on, the analysis of such traces via genetic, ballistic, chemical and many other tests helps solve thousands of various crimes, including those committed years ago.
