Probe launched into aircraft accident in Barnaul airport

The West-Siberian Transport Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia has launched an investigation into a violation of traffic safety and air transport operation rules under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Russia.

It has been preliminarily established that, on September 25, 2019, at about 9 PM, the Boeing 767 aircraft’s rear right pillar of the landing gear burnt down at the Barnaul airport of Altai Territory. The fire was contained immediately and the passengers were evacuated. The evacuation resulted in 56 passengers suffering from injuries of varying degrees of severity, and one of the passengers is currently in a healthcare facility in a satisfactory condition.

Investigative actions are being carried out in order to establish all the circumstances of the accident. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
