In Saint Petersburg, adolescent sentenced for inflicting grave injury to girl
Evidence gathered by the Saint Petersburg Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia was found by the court to be sufficient to sentence a local citizen born in 2003. He was found guilty of committing an offense under Paragraphs B and E of Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Russia (intentional infliction of a grave injury committed out of malicious motives).
This investigation was specially supervised by Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin.
According to the investigation, in November 2018, being in an apartment with a minor girl born in 2004, the convict had doused her with highly-inflammable liquid without a reason, acting out of malicious motives. Following that, he had used a lighter to set the girl’s clothes on fire, causing her physical pain, thermal burns of 25 percent of the body surface, and thermal inhalation injury of the respiratory tract.
The adolescent was sentenced to 2.5 years of imprisonment in a juvenile correctional facility. Moreover, the court satisfied the civil claim for compensation for the moral damage in the amount of two million rubles.
