Alexander Bastrykin takes part in session of the National Antiterrorism Committe

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin took part in a session of the National Antiterrorism Committee held in Pyatigorsk and chaired by Chairman of the National Antiterrorism Committee--Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov. The event was also attended by other officers of the National Antiterrorism Committee, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in North Caucasian Federal District, Chairmen of several anti-terrorism committees of constituents of the Russian Federation, heads of interested federal executive authorities, and representatives of law enforcement and special services.

During the meeting, the attendees presented results of the implementation of a complex of forceful and preventive measures that provided for a significant decrease in the number of terrorist offenses in North Caucasus Federal District. In 2017, 15 such offenses were committed, six in 2018, and only two in the current year. It was reported that, in 2019, 15 terrorist offenses have been prevented, 30 terrorist cells have been liquidated, participants of which were preparing for committing offenses in public places and religious organizations and for attacks against law enforcement officers.

Special attention during the discussion was given to antiterrorism protection of energy and transport assets, social infrastructure and public places, as well as to the improvement of accountability of their leaders for meeting established standards and requirements and timely elimination of present drawbacks.

At the meeting, it was stressed that the criterion for evaluating the work of each head of the anti-terrorist commission should be the effectiveness of measures taken to address terrorist threats and the real positive dynamics of the situation in the region.
