Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia gives instructions upon mass media materials about violations of rights of citizens in Moscow and Samara Region

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed the Moscow Main Investigations Directorate to check data of mass media reports on violation of housing rights of Moscow citizens.

A federal channel broadcast a story of residents of one of residential complexes complaining about a construction company. According to apartment buyers, the house was commissioned with numerous construction deficiencies: leaky ceilings, shaky walls, non-working radiators. The material also says that construction of a part of the apartments is not completed, therefore the citizens refuse to commission them.

The Head of the Committee instructed his subordinates to promptly sort out the situation, give a relevant legal assessment to all circumstances related to it and provide all possible assistance to restoration of housing rights of the citizens.

Apart from that, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed to refer to the Central Office materials of a pre-investigative probe launched by the Samara Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation upon application of a 20-year-old former children's home inmate. The young man applied to investigators with a complaint about actions of police officers who, according to him, inflicted to him health injuries during arrest.

The mass media published reports on unlawful methods used by local police officers against the applicant. The young man was arrested for theft and subsequently received a real prison sentence due to previous conviction.

The Head of the Committee instructed officers of the Central Committee to check all arguments of the young man in detail. He demanded to bring to, having legal grounds, bring to justice not only the police officers for the use of violence, but also penitentiary service officers who, according to the former children's home inmate, carried out the medical examination, registered the injuries and failed to take relevant response measures.
