The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia sends forensic experts of the Central Office to Krasnoyarsk Territory to assist to investigation of the death of people in a dam breach

The Krasnoyarsk and Khakassia Regional Office of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation launched a probe under Part 3 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violation of safety rules during work that has entailed by negligence the death of two or more persons).

On October 19, 2019, a technological dam on the Ceiba River broke through at night on the territory of a gold mine near the village of Shchetinkino, Kuraginsky District. According to preliminary data, as a result of the accident, twelve people were killed and 14 injured workers were hospitalized in medical institutions. The number of victims will be revised.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin sent forensic investigators of the Central Office to provide practical assistance in the investigation of this probe. At present, the investigators are establishing all circumstances of the offence; the criminal investigation is ongoing.
