A resident of Zabaikalsky Territory sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a schoolgirl

The evidence gathered by the Zabaikalsky Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was found to be sufficient by the court to find 45-year-old previously convicted Alexey Firulev guilty. He was accused of committing several especially grave offences including the one under Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia (murder of a minor).

The investigation and the court established that in October 2018 Firulev murdered a 12-year-old schoolgirl whose body was found later in the parking area where the accused worked.

During the probe investigation, the investigators of IC of Russia carried a large complex of investigative activities. Several expert examinations, including forensic psychiatric evaluation of Firulev in the Serbsky State Scientific Center for Social and Forensic Psychiatry, were requested and conducted. The research confirmed his ability to understand his actions and the possibility to arrange a criminal prosecution of him. At a request of the investigation, Firulev was subjected to a preventive detention. He did not plead guilty in charges brought. Earlier he had been fourfold prosecuted on previous offences of different gravity.

The investigation gathered enough evidence which became a foundation of the indictment. Firulev was convicted guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment.
