Upon instruction of Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, probe launched into man suspected of insulting and abusing public officer

Upon instruction of Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin, the West-Siberian Transport Investigations Directorate launched a criminal investigation into an Omsk citizen born in 1984 suspected of committing offenses under Part 1 of Article 318 (infliction of violence to a public officer) and Article 319 (insulting a public officer) of the Criminal Code of Russia.

According to the investigation, on October 23, 2019, Omsk citizens born in 1984 and 1982 loudly used abusive language while being bus-transferred to a plane at the Tolmachevo airport. In their intoxicated state, they were acting violently. As a result, they were denied a flight and called in by the airline’s transport police. The arrived law enforcement officers asked the men to proceed to the front desk of the line police department at the Tolmachevo airport to draw up an administrative offense report. In response to the legal demands, one of the men born in 1984 resisted and pushed away a public official, while the other was shooting a video of what was happening on his cell phone camera. Subsequently, the men were taken to a police station, where they were recorded as administrative offenders and released. When the report was being drawn up, one of them continued his illegal actions and insulted the police officers. The offenses were captured on video cameras of the police officers.

The investigation will carefully examine all the circumstances of the incident as part of the criminal investigation.
