In Leningrad Region, probe launched into death of five persons, including three minor children, in fire


On October 30, 2019, after extinguishing a fire in a private house in Vaskelovo village of Vsevolozhsky District of Leningrad Region, bodies of people killed by the fire have been discovered: three children of 2, 5, and 8 years of age, a 58-year-old man, and an 85-year-old woman.

The Leningrad Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia has launched a probe into an offense under Part 3 of Article 109 (infliction of death by negligence on two or more people) of the Criminal Code of Russia.

Investigators and forensics officers of the Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia continue working on the site.

The required investigative activities are being conducted in order to establish all circumstances of the tragedy, including causes of the fire. A set of necessary forensic examinations has been arranged. The investigation will establish the reasons and circumstances that led to the commission of the offense.
