Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia takes under personal supervision criminal investigation of child’s murder in Naryan-Mar


Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin has taken under his personal supervision the criminal investigation of the child’s murder in Naryan-Mar and detached the Central Office’s forensic specialists and psychologists to Nenets Autonomous District to provide assistance on the scene.

To remind, this afternoon, a man inflicted a lethal knife wound to a six-year-old boy during nap time in a kindergarten in Naryan-Mar. The Arkhangelsk and Nenets Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation launched a probe under Paragraph C of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia (murder of a minor). The suspect, a local citizen aged 36, was detained immediately. The investigation is to motion the court about the pre-trial custody for the detainee.

In addition, criminal proceedings have been instituted against officials, including those representing the private security company, that failed to ensure the safety of children in the preschool establishment under the Criminal Code articles “Negligence” and “Rendering services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers”.

The Chairman of the Investigation Committee requested that a comprehensive set of measures be taken to establish all the circumstances, causes, and conditions that contributed to the commission of such an atrocious crime against a child.
