Investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia close probe into minor who damaged car that ran over his dog

The Tomsk Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation carried out a thorough investigation of circumstances of damaging a Nissan Terrano car, the driver of which had killed a dog of a teenager by running over it.

To remind, taking into account the high impact of pressing charges against the teenager, earlier the direction of the Tomsk Regional Investigations Directorate initiated return of a probe into the minor born in 2002 that hit a car from the court for additional investigation by the units of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

The investigation established that, on June 5, 2019, the man was driving his Nissan Terrano on the road of a garage complex in Tomsk and ran over the teenager’s dog. In his turn, the boy spontaneously, in an agitated state, hit the car body (hood), which led to the deformation of the car body. The car refurbishment cost 14,000 rubles.

According to the federal law, criminal responsibility for intentional infliction of damage to the property of another person is applicable in cases of significant damage. According to data on the property status of the family of the car owner obtained during the preliminary investigation and the ratio of the cost of the refurbishment compared to the car cost, it was established that the damage inflicted on the car owner was insignificant. In this relation, based on results of the investigation, investigators of the Tomsk Regional Investigations Directorate decided to close the probe into the teenager born in 2002 under Part 1 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of Russia due to a lack of criminality in his actions.
