Criminal investigation into former Deputy Director for Discipline of Gorozhansky Cossack Cadet Corps of Voronezh Region accused of negligence finished

The Voronezh Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia has finished the criminal investigation into the former Deputy Director for Discipline of the Gorozhansky Cossack Cadet Corps of Voronezh Region. He is accused of committing an offense under Part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of Russia (negligence).

The investigation established that, for a long period of time, specifically from May to November 2018, illegal actions related to a disparagement of honor and dignity and sexual assault were being regularly committed against several minors by other students at the Gorozhansky Cossack Cadet Corps of Voronezh Region.

Not later than on October 8, 2018, the official found out about the repeated illegal activities against the children by other students during a personal conversation with relatives and legal representatives of the affected boys. In spite of that, the Deputy Director failed to take the required measures to prevent the said illegal activities and did not report them to the law enforcement agencies, which entailed further unchallenged commission of the offensive acts by underage cadets against their peers at the institution from October to November 2018.

The accused individual did not admit his guilt during the preliminary investigation. The investigator of the Investigative Committee of Russia has collected a comprehensive set of evidence, based on testimonies of the six affected boys and over 45 witnesses, reports about seizures, searches, and inspections, and other materials of the criminal case proved to be sufficient to approve the indictment and send the case to the court to be tried on the merits.
