Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia sends forensic specialists of the Central Office to St. Petersburg to provide practical assistance in investigation of murder of young woman and instructs to verify other facts of illegal activities of associate professor reported by mass media
Alexander Bastrykin has sent experienced forensic specialists of the Main Forensics Directorate (Forensics Centre) of the Investigative Committee to St. Petersburg to provide practical assistance in the investigation of the high-impact murder of the young woman by the university professor and in the collection and proving of evidence under the probe.
The day before, the Saint Petersburg Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia pressed charges against the Associate Professor of the Institute of History of the Saint Petersburg State University for a murder of the young woman (Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia); upon investigative motion, he was taken to custody.
At present, investigators continue carrying out a set of investigative activities aimed to establish all circumstances of the incident, including an arrangement of required forensic examinations, interrogation of persons from the inner social circle of the convict; moreover, they have questioned the parents of the murdered girl.
Alexander Bastrykin also instructed the management of the St. Petersburg Main investigations Directorate to verify the information provided by mass media about illegal activities of the convict against another girl and to make a justified procedural decision upon the assessment.
