In Stavropol Region, man who attacked children and teacher detained

The Stavropol Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has launched a probe into a previously convicted 63-year-old Neftekumsk citizen upon the instruction of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia. He is suspected of committing an offense under Part 3 of Article 30, Paragraph I of Part 2 of Article 105 (murder committed maliciously).

According to investigative data, on November 9, 2019, the man armed with a knife, demonstrating inappropriate behavior and shouting obscenities, started to approach boys on a playground in Neftekumsk. A primary school teacher returning from school noticed this hazardous situation. The woman blocked the man’s way and commanded the children to run. Threatening to kill the teacher, the man tried to stab her, but she managed to run away.

The suspect has been detained; the investigation is to motion the court about the pre-trial custody for the detainee. Other investigative and procedural actions aimed to collect evidence are in progress. The progress of the criminal investigation is under the supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
