Working visit of the delegation of the Investigative Committee of Russia to the Kingdom of Thailand

Russian delegation made a working visit to the Kingdom of Thailand. The delegation consisted of representatives of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation and of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

On July 4, 2019 Bangkok hosted solemn signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the Investigative Committee of Russia and the National Anti-Corruption Commission of the Kingdom of Thailand. Concluding of the Memorandum of Interaction became a logical outcome of a meeting held in April, 2018 in the Investigative Committee of Russia that was chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia A.V. Federov.

The document is aimed at effective tackling of tasks faced by the agencies in the area of criminal justice, related to combating corruption and protection of rights and freedoms of a person and a citizen.

Implementation of the Memorandum is intended to strengthen relations between the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Thailand in the criminal law area and to give new impetus to development of direct contacts of representative of law enforcement bodies that shall eventually benefit the wellbeing of citizens of both countries.

The parties are intended to cooperate in such forms as exchange of experience and methods of investigation of crimes involving corruption, exchange of information related to such crimes, organization of joint scientific researches, conferences, seminars and round tables devoted to problems of mutual interest and interaction on academic and educational programs of advanced training of officers of both agencies.

Corruption crimes often have a cross-border nature that necessitates coordination of efforts of the Investigative Committee of Russia and law enforcement bodies of foreign countries. In this context interaction with APEC countries becomes a priority.
