Alexander Bastrykin takes part in XV Annual Conference of Heads of the National Central Interpol Bureaus in France

Delegation of the Investigative Committee of Russia led by Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin takes part in the XV Annual Conference of Heads of the National Central Interpol Bureaus currently held in Lyon (the French Republic).

During the event that gathered heads of law enforcement bodies from around the world Alexander Bastrykin negotiated with Interpol Secretary General Jurgen Stock and thanked the foreign colleague for the long fruitful cooperation and for the opportunity to substantially address the most relevant issues of international cooperation in the area of combating crime.

Participants of negotiations discussed in detail issues of extension of the competence of the National Bureaus, elimination of obstacles for operative work and interaction for solving of crimes including those of terrorist nature and in the area of information security. The parties specially underlined mutual interest in development and intensification of equitable cooperation in the indicated areas of work. Alexander Bastrykin informed Jurgen Stock about creation in the structure of the Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia of the new division - Department of interaction on international and federal search for persons; the work of the Department will be aimed at increasing efficiency of search and arrest of perpetrators hiding from criminal investigation and arrest and return of funds acquired in an illegal way that had been stolen and deposited abroad.

There is a number of recent prime examples of successful cooperation in this area. Bringing to justice of a leader of a criminal community Aslan Gagiev and his accomplices, former Deputy Chairman of Moscow Regional Government Alexey Kuznetsov, terrorist operative Aslan Yangiev became possible due to close and consistent cooperation of the Investigative Committee of Russia with Interpol and relative authorities of foreign countries.

Apart from that, Alexander Bastrykin and Jurgen Stock discussed creation of the Interpol Global Innovative Centre in Singapore responsible for coordination of combat against cybercrime in the international realm. The cyber forensic laboratory responsible for collection of digital evidence occupies an important place in the structure of the centre. Alexander Bastrykin expressed interest in the work of this centre and suggested to send representatives of the Investigative Committee of Russia to the Interpol Global Innovative Centre to get acquainted with advanced technologies and latest developments in the area of information security that can be implemented in the practice of the Investigative Committee of Russia in future.

In conclusion of the meeting Alexander Bastrykin noted the high level of cooperation in the triad Investigative Committee of Russia - International Organization of Criminal Police - National Central Interpol Bureau of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs on a wide range of issues and expressed confidence in the further development and deepening of law enforcement cooperation for solving of tasks faced by the agencies in the area of combating international crime.
