Man accused of police officer’s murder in Moscow subway in 2018 to stand trial

The Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia has finished the investigation into a 44-year-old man. He is accused of committing an offense under Article 317 of the Criminal Code of Russia (encroachment on the life of an officer of a law-enforcement body).

The investigation established that, on September 2, 2018, a police officer stopped the man for an identity check, following which they went to an office in Kurskaya subway station to file an administrative protocol. In order to obstruct the lawful activity of the police officer, the man grabbed the latter’s firearm and shot him in the head. The officer died of his wound at the scene.

The investigation process comprised numerous forensic examinations including ballistic, fingerprinting, DNA and physical-chemical ones that proved the man’s involvement in the committed offense.

During the preliminary investigation, the man admitted his guilt to the full.

The investigation gathered enough evidence; therefore, the criminal case with the approved indictment was sent to the court to be tried on the merits.
