In Moscow Region, a mother of a newborn girl left on a street detained and charged with attempted murder

During investigation of a probe into abandoning a newborn child to danger (Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Russia) the Moscow Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia established involvement in the offence of the biological mother of the girl - a 33-year-old citizen of a neighbouring country. Upon results of immediate investigative actions including interrogation of witnesses and the detainee, investigators launched a probe into the attempted murder of a minor (Part 3 of Article 30, Paragraph C, Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia) and pressed appropriate charges.

The woman testified while being interrogated as a convict. She said that, not wanting to take care of the newborn baby, on November 24, she left her daughter in a plot of land covered with dried grass at an ambient temperature of -5 C in order to deprive her of her life. However, she was unable to complete her criminal intent due to circumstances beyond her control. The newborn baby was found by passers-by, and she was taken to the Budgetary Public Health Facility of Moscow Region «Ramenskoye Central District Hospital», where she was provided with qualified medical assistance.

A set of Investigative activities to prove the evidence continues. In the near future, at the request of the investigation, the court will decide on the election of a preventive measure against the accused.
