In Perm Region, probe launched into local citizen suspected of murder and attempted murder committed out of malicious motives

The Perm Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has launched a criminal inquiry into a 50-year-old Perm citizen under Paragraph I of Part 2 of Article 105 (murder committed out of malicious motives); Part 3 of Article 30, Paragraphs A, I of Part 2 of Article 105 (attempted murder of two persons committed out of malicious motives); and Article 317 (encroachment on a life of law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code of Russia.

According to the investigation, in the early morning of December 4, 2019, the previously convicted man, being under the influence of alcohol, armed himself with a hunting gun he possessed illegally and opened fire in his apartment in Ordzhonikidzevsky District of Perm. Following that, he went outside and wounded a man and inflicted a fatal injury on a woman with his shooting. Apart from that, the perpetrator inflicted a gunshot wound on a driver of a National Guard detention squad being in a squad car.

By the present moment, the suspect has been detained by National Guard officers and subjected to all the required investigative and procedural actions. The wounded persons have been hospitalized.

An investigative team reinforced by the most experienced officers of the Forensics Department is working at the scene. Investigators continue examining the crime scenes, including the suspect’s apartment, using advanced forensic equipment, arranging the required forensic examinations, questioning witnesses, and carrying out other investigative activities aimed to establish all circumstances of the accident, as well as to collect and prove evidence. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
