In Rostov-on-Don, a probe launched into abuse of authority involving infliction of substantial damage

The South Transport Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe into the First Deputy Head of Rostov customer team for construction of railway transport objects - a separate subdivision of Direction for complex railway renovations and construction of railway transport objects. He is suspected of committing an offence under Part 3 of Article 285 of the Criminal Code of Russia (abuse of authority).

According to the investigation, from February to December 2018, the suspect supervised construction works at the Complex Renovation of M. Gorkiy Railway Section - Kotelnikovo - Tikhoretskaya - Krymskaya. Knowing with certainty that the works of maintenance and restoration of road, provided for by the contract, were not fulfilled, he signed work completion statements. Apart from that, he instructed his subordinates to sign the documents, commissioning works that had not been completed by the contractor, which provided grounds to transfer over 1.5 billion roubles of budgetary funds to the contractor.

Investigative actions are being carried out in order to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
