In Bryansk, Special Communication Department officer to stand trial for murder of his co-workers and committing other offenses

The Bryansk Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia has finished the investigation into a 31-year-old courier driver of Special Communication Department accused of murder attended by robbery (Paragraph A, B, H of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia), robbery on a large scale entailing grievous bodily harm (Paragraphs B, C of Part 4 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of Russia), attempted willful destruction of other people’s property by fire (Part 3 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of Russia), stealing of firearms and ammunition with violence dangerous to life (Paragraph B of Part 4 of Article 226 of the Criminal Code of Russia), and illegal storage of firearms and ammunition (Part 1 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code of Russia).

According to the investigation, on September 19, 2019, at around 10:30 PM the convict, while in the Special Communication Department of Bryansk, illegally seized firearms of his colleagues, used them to murder two special communication officers present in the building, and stole 13.925 million rubles from the service space of the department and the firearms assigned to the deceased officers.

In order to hide traces of the committed violence the Special Communication employee stole a data storage device containing records of video surveillance cameras, made an unsuccessful attempt of setting the Department on fire and fled the scene.

On his way home, he threw away the clothes that had been on him at the moment of committing the offense and the data storage device. He hid the stolen firearms and money in his house.

During the conducted range of investigative and procedural activities, investigators found the stolen firearms, the money, the clothes of the suspect, and the data storage device containing video records, on hot pursuit.

The evidence gathered by the investigation was found to be sufficient to approve an indictment and refer the criminal case to the court.
