Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia takes part in meeting of Coordination Council of Children’s Ombudsmen in the Russian Federation
Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin took part in a plenary session of the Coordination Council of Children’s Ombudsmen in the Russian Federation and awarding of children’s ombudsmen who made achievements in the restoration of violated rights of juveniles in interaction with the Investigative Committee of Russia.
Today’s meeting is a part of a two-day forum held in association with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the institute of children’s ombudsmen in the Russian Federation. Participants of the event, including heads and representatives of federal ministries and agencies, will discuss the implementation of the main event plan within the framework of the Childhood Decade and will summarize the results of 2019.
Delivering a speech at the meeting, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia congratulated the children’s ombudsmen on the anniversary of the establishment of their institute. He noted that, during the years, the ombudsmen have convincingly proven their importance. “Figures and facts hide the fates and lives of certain children who acquired protection and a chance to live fulfilling lives, change their lives for the better with your help,” the Chairman added.
Alexander Bastrykin reminded that protection of the rights of socially unprotected citizens--and children in the first place--was the key priority for investigators. Our officers restore justice by criminal law measures and provide a timely and acute response to all reports about violations of the rights of juveniles.
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee highlighted the well-coordinated and efficient cooperation of investigative units and children’s ombudsmen representatives in constituents carried out under the concluded agreements. He underlined the importance of cooperation and patronage as well as of measures taken to improve the institute of mentoring and providing orphan children with housing.
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia expressed confidence that the jointly acquired practical experience will help to eliminate risks related to lack of common approaches and to provide high-quality handling of issues of protection of children’s rights.
Alexander Bastrykin praised the merits in solving childhood problems of Children’s Ombudsman for the President of the Russian Federation Anna Kuznetsova, her concern and timely response to violations of children’s rights, and awarded her the Investigative Committee medal “For Purity of Heart and Nobility of Actions”. Children’s ombudsmen from five Russian regions also received the Investigative Committee awards.
