Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructs the Central Office of the Committee to supervise circumstances of a traffic accident involving a bus in Sverdlovsk Region

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed the Central Office of the Committee to supervise a probe into provision of services failing to meet the requirements to safety of consumers' life and health, launched by Sverdlovsk Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia into a traffic accident involving a bus, affecting several persons.

In the morning of December 14, 2019 law enforcement organs of Bisert Municipal Region were reported about a traffic accident involving a bus carrying a group of people from a concert. The traffic accident occurred on 242nd kilometre of Perm - Yekaterinburg highway. According to preliminary data, the bus driver lost control of the bus and let it swerve onto the upcoming traffic, where the vehicle went over. The bus had aboard 53 persons including teenagers.

The Sverdlovsk Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia (provision of services failing to meet the requirements to safety of consumers' life and health) for thorough investigation of all circumstances of the accident.

Circumstances of bus flipping and exact number of injured persons and severity of their injuries are being clarified. Investigators are seizing documents on passenger carriage, questioning witnesses and workers of the transport company, arranging a set of required forensic examinations. Other required investigative actions are being carried out.
