Alexander Bastrykin instructs to organize a procedural probe into mass media report about violent actions of a woman against her child in St. Petersburg

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed the Direction of the St. Petersburg Main Investigations Directorate to immediately launch a pre-investigative probe into a mass media report about illegal actions of a mother against her minor child.

A federal channel broadcast a story of a woman endangering life of her child. According to a reporter, the woman was throwing things out of the window, ignoring warnings of a police officer. After that the woman threw a 5-liter canister at the police officer, it hit him on the head and crashed on the pavement. After that she pulled out the window on her outstretched arms her 2-year-old daughter. When rescue services and law enforcement officers entered the apartment, the woman was standing on a couch holding the child, with an open window behind her. As it was discovered, there was another child in the home, who said that he was deprived from food for a long time.

The Head of the Investigative Committee of Russia demanded to establish all circumstances of the accident, inspect living conditions of the family and request materials characterizing the mother. Apart from that he instructed to give legal assessment to actions (inaction) of preventive and control authorities during the probe and determine causes and circumstances that facilitated the incident.

Alexander Bastrykin instructed the Central Office of the Committee to supervise the procedural probe.
